BLOOMVILLE - At Wednesday evening's council meeting, Bloomville Mayor Bob George thanked Councilwoman Carol Adams for her and husband Joe's efforts in plowing snow around the village last weekend. Village employees were out on water break calls when the snow hit, prompting the Adamses to begin snow removal efforts. Carol Adams joked the quality did not measure up to that of the regular village employees.
Street superintendent Rick Dentinger said a small pool pump has been located on the Internet at a cost savings of more than $200 from a dealer that had been contacted. Council approved the online purchase. Bennett Electric has the larger pump but has yet to assess its problems, Dentinger said.
George said he attended the village association meeting in Attica Jan. 29 with Dave Zartman. He reported the topic was identity theft over computers. He said New Riegel Mayor Larry Bouillon was chosen as association president, with the next meeting at Bettsville in six months, followed by Bloomville.
Councilwoman Nancy Zellers raised concerns over a village resident who has several lawn mowers lined up along his garage and asked if something could be done. Clerk-treasurer Janis Weasner said she knew of no ordinance restricting this.
Zellers also inquired about possible action in Sycamore limiting the purchase of multiple properties by a few with the result of them not being maintained, and if this could be applied to Bloomville. Weasner said she believed certain entities in Sycamore joined together to avoid the situation from occurring. Zellers expressed displeasure in how some properties have been allowed to deteriorate.
Other items of note included:
Two non-working street lights to be reported to AEP.
Police department to attend computer training today and Friday.

Village office will be closed Feb. 18.

Council is to meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 20 at the village office.
