HILLSDALE, Mich - Pam Oswald said her team simply wasn't ready to play Thursday at Hillsdale.
And the results of the game weren't pretty for the Dragons.
Hillsdale grabbed 22 offensive boards, made 10 3s, and buried Tiffin, 78-57.
"From the opening tip, we just didn't show up," Oswald said. "In the first half, they had more offensive rebounds than we had (total)."
Melissa Gilliland scored 12 points for Tiffin, which fell to 10-10, 7-9 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Jordan Fraley and Jessica Harris each had eight points.
"We only had a couple people, Gilliland, Fraley ... who got off the bus and came to play," Oswald said. "We were lethargic from the get-go."
Hillsdale (8-11, 5-11) was led by Kayla Geffert's 13 points.
With Findlay coming to town Saturday, Oswald said it's time for a re-assessment.
"The big thing is, we have to figure out what we're doing to get prepared for games," she said. "Right now this year, on the road has been a struggle."
Early 3s doom Dragons
HILLSDALE, Mich - Hillsdale caught the Tiffin University men by surprise in the beginning of their game Thursday night.
Coach John Hill said that from scouting, TU didn't expect the Chargers' Nick Washburn, Cody Smith and Darius Ware to make 3-pointers. But the trio combined for four in the early going, helping Hillsdale establish a lead it didn't relinquish.
"The first four 3s that were made by guys we didn't worry about," Hill said after the Dragons' 80-63 loss to the Chargers.
Joe Graessle scored more than 20 points for the seventh-straight game, putting up 30 Thursday night. But aside from Khaleal McCormick, who had 11 points, the Dragons failed to create much offense.
Meanwhile, Hillsdale (13-6, 9-6 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) finished with four players in double figures. Washburn led the group with 19 points to go along with seven rebounds. Tim Dezelski had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
"We did enough to fight back, but we didn't score," Hill said.
Tiffin (8-13, 7-10) now comes home to play Findlay Saturday. Tiffin stunned the Oilers in Findlay last month.
