The Advertiser-Tribune

Lt. Michael Powell and Sgt. Shawn Bain of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office pass around drug paraphernalia Monday and explain how people can hide drugs in name-brand items by concealing them in false tops and bottoms. The presentation was part of Operation Street Smart at the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center. The four-hour session by the Special Investigation Unit included Lt. Steve Tucker. Operation Street Smart is an adult drug education program designed to educate parents, teachers, social workers, community partners and anyone close to children. The presentation discussed current drug trends, terminology and drug paraphernalia children are abusing today, including marijuana, heroin, K-2, alcohol and over-the-counter and prescription drugs. The event was sponsored by NCOESC and Community Action to Reduce Substance Abuse. For more information visit, www.sheriff.franklin.oh.us.
