It's been a year now since the Obama administration first offered its offensive and anti-religious Health and Human Service for a health care plan. One year later, it has backed off an inch but it is still not enough. The administration obviously realizes the HHS mandate puts constitutional rights at risk. There would have been an easy way to resolve this by expanding the exemption, but the proposed rule expressly rejects that option.
The biggest problem is that these new (80 pages!) of regulations still force private businesses (such as Hobby Lobby) to pay for contraception and abortifacient coverage in their employees' health plans. Businesses, such as Hobby Lobby, are being fined $1 million a day! This is outrageous to be fined, taxed, penalized and suffer legal harassment for not wanting something that is not heath care at all!
You won't learn about this from the mainstream media, but the lists of risks associated with birth control pills can be found in any medical textbook. The list includes: heart attacks, strokes, blood clots, liver cancer and pulmonary emboli. Other less-lethal side effects include depression, headaches and nausea. Papers have been published for decades reporting the increased risk of breast cancer in BCP users since 1959! With this said, abortion is not health care for women or families, period. Has anyone ever taken time to look up all the deaths of women from legal abortions? Don't take my word for it. Get into "Life Dynamics" and read for yourself.
All Americans, and not just those in church organizations, are guaranteed freedom of conscience in their daily lives and work. This administration's narrow gesture does nothing to protect many faith-based employees or religious families from the unconstitutional abortion pill mandate. The government has no business putting religious freedom on the negotiating table. Government shouldn't need 80 pages to respect our First Amendment rights.
President Barack Obama's State of the Union speech consisted of more talk of spending and more government. What is Obama's answer? He only did a big "woe is me" over the $1.2 trillion sequester that he endorsed and signed into law. Few people understand this does not cut any spending whatsoever. It only slows the rate of growth. And government will, once again, grow by more than $7 trillion over the next decade. Only in Washington could an increase of $7 trillion in spending be called a cut.
Over the past four years, Obama has added more than $6 trillion in new debt and may well do the same for us in a second term.
What solution does he offer? He takes entitlement reform off the table and seeks to squeeze more money out of the private sector.
Liberals complain the budget can't be balanced, but if you cut just one penny from each dollar we spend, the budget would balance within six or seven years. This Penny Plan has been crafted into a bill that millions across the country support.
Both parties have been guilty of spending too much, of protecting their sacred cows, of all kinds of backroom deals, and every time, who wins? Well, it's not the taxpayer!
Printing more money never satisfies the appetite. All this does is drive up prices because the value of the dollar goes down.
A train is free only when it stays on track. We can discipline ourselves to true freedom, balance the budget and have respect for our founding documents. We shall begin to thrive again when we understand that capitalism, free markets and free individuals are what creates a nation's prosperity.
