The caption caught my eye, "Alzheimer's dating becoming common," so even though I normally do not read "Dear Margo" today (Sunday 2/17), I did. The writer states her husband, who has Alzheimer's disease, does not know her, so is it morally and ethically all right to pursue a romantic relationship with another man, which as she states is "technically infidelity?"
Margo, as usual, gives her ungodly response: go for it. She states that "while his body is here, his mind is gone, and that, to me, is the essence of a human being." Really? According to Margo, this gentleman is no longer a human being!
Margo states, "You are hurting no one." This women will be hurting: herself, with a guilty conscience, if she has a conscience; her family, who sees her marriage vows being broken; and society, which more and more is determining some people aren't worth much.
The reason I usually don't read Dear Margo is that her responses in the past have been horrible ungodly advice like this. Who knows what young (or old) impressionable person may be reading this awful advice column. Please, A-T, rethink continuing to print Dear Margo. Our society is already messed up enough.
I thank God my parents have shown me how they love their spouse not only in health but also in sickness as long as both shall live.
