A Republic man was sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday after he pleaded guilty to several charges of burglary.

Nathan S. Barney, 21, pleaded guilty to six counts of burglary and one count of receiving stolen property and was sentenced by Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff. The charges stemmed from three separate cases.

Barney was arrested in July in connection to a rash of burglaries in Tiffin and in Seneca County. Some of the burglaries occurred while the residents were home.

A search at his North TR 43 residence the day of his arrest unveiled items of evidence related to the burglaries and illicit prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.

"I'm very pleased with the outcome," Seneca County Drug Task Force-METRICH Enforcement Unit Coordinator Chuck Boyer said Thursday following Barney's sentencing. "Tonight we can go to bed and realize our homes are just a little safer."
