Matthew "Darek" Marks, 44, of Bloomville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 6, 2013, at Marion General Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born March 4, 1969, in Gallipolis, to Dennis and Linda (Bonnell) Marks, and they survive in Perrysville. He married Kendra M. Nicholls May 2, 1987, in Fremont, and she survives in Bloomville.
Other survivors include four sons, Matt and Bryan Marks, both of Bloomville, and Cyle and Dennis Marks, both of Tiffin; a brother, Dean (Suzie) Marks of Fort Worth, Texas; and two sisters, Maria (Richard) Zickefosse and Melinda (Rob) Wynn, both of Loudonville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jullea Michele Marks, and his grandparents, Creed and Mary Bonnell, and Ernest and Pearl Marks.
He was a 1987 graduate of Old Fort High School and a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Panama Conflict (JustCause). He was employed for 17 years as a sprinkler fitter for Vulcan Enterprises, Carey. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and driving his woods buggy. He was a quick with a joke and had a great sense of humor.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19 Bloomville, (419) 983-2111, with the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating.
Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans of Tiffin, his sons or to Republic Boys Scouts Troop 442.
