American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Tiffin and Fostoria are hosting a Family Fun Night and Sprint Car Show 6-9 p.m. today at Tiffin Mall.
Teaming with the Northern Ohio Sprint Car Show, the organization is planning music by Aaron Smith of Spotlight Music Entertainment, bake sales, hoop shoot, kids' games, face painting, jewelry sales, painting of ceramic Easter items, a 50/50 drawing and raffles of gift baskets, a Holland grill and a 46-inch TV.
"We will get a visit from the Easter Bunny," said Deb Hilborn, income development coordinator for the organization. "And we'll have Easter egg donations where people can put their donation inside plastic eggs and put in the Easter basket."
Relay for Life teams each have an activity, sale or game for people to take part in.
"It's just another way for the teams to fund raise," she said. "We have well over 30-plus teams doing some kind of fundraiser.
"It's another way to get the message out to the community to end the fight," she said. "That's the new slogan, 'End the Fight.'"
Birthday Bash T-shirts are to be on sale and information is to be available on the annual golf outing and Bark for Life.
Hilborn invites people join the teams for dinner today.
"We'll have walking tacos, chicken sandwiches, lemon slushes and popcorn," she said.
The event partnership with the sprint car show started last year when the mall accidentally scheduled both events for the same weekend, and the two groups decided to try working together. Each event attracts a different group of people, who become more aware of the other group's goals.
"We both found it awesome that we were both working for a great cause," Hilborn said. "Everything happens for a reason and it works great."
The sprint car show raises funds at 2 p.m. Saturday by having a benefit auction for injured race car drivers.
"We can help them advertise theirs and they bring in people for us," she said. "It's one more way for us to give back to the community."
As another community project, Hilborn said the organization will be selling tickets for Project Care Daffodil Bears. For every 25 tickets sold, another bear will be donated to a local care organization for distribution to children who experience such events as fires, domestic disturbances or injuries.
"It's to give them comfort," Hilborn said.
