Rose C. Nye, 91, of Green Springs, died at 11:45 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at her residence.
She was born July 30, 1921, in Tiffin, to Thomas and Catherine (Clouse) Boes. She married Wilbur F. Nye, Feb. 12, 1942, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. He died Oct. 15, 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph (Sarah) Nye of New Washington and Daniel (Anita) Nye of Norwalk; three daughters, Mary Lonsway of Tiffin, Rose Ann (John) Fick of Westerville and Jane (Howard) Van Horn of North Potomac, Md.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, James and Stephen Nye; a grandson, Howard Van Horn; a son-in-law, Carl Lonsway; four brothers, Louis, Sylvester, Alvin and Cecil Boes; and a sister, Cecilia Huth.
Rose was a 1939 Columbian High School graduate and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She worked with Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program for The Ohio State University Extension Service. She also, along with her husband, worked in the family poultry business.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The rosary will be said 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
