A Fostoria man sustained facial injuries and was taken to a Toledo hospital Sunday after allegedly shooting at a vehicle and getting assaulted in Big Spring Township.
According to a Seneca County Sheriff's Office report, a caller from 12050 W TR 26A reported at 4:44 a.m. Sunday there was an unconscious man in his driveway people had knocked out after he fired a weapon at the house, trying to start a fight.
Sheriff Bill Eckelberry identified the injured man as Raul D. Vela, 47, of Fostoria. The sheriff said he was taken to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital first and then was transported to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo with facial injuries.
A hospital spokeswoman said there was not a patient listed with his name Sunday evening.
"He was conscious (Sunday morning)," Eckelberry said.
Eckelberry said three men who were friends got into an argument.
Vela left, returned and fired a round into a vehicle in the driveway, he said.
"They came out, confronted him and he got assaulted," he said.
Eckelberry said no one had been arrested yet Sunday evening, and the incident was under investigation.
"They still need to follow up and talk to (Vela)," he said.
According to a report, two tow trucks, one for the suspect's vehicle and one for the vehicle that had a window shot out, were requested. New Riegel EMS and NBS fire responded to the incident, according to the sheriff's office.
