An Alvada residence was damaged after a fire broke out in its second story Monday afternoon. Several fire departments responded to the residence.
The residents were home at the time of the fire, Staib said, and they were able to get out safely.
One NBS firefighter was transported to the hospital after he overheated, Staib said.
He said Bascom, McCutchenville and Fostoria firefighters provided mutual aid at the fire. New Riegel EMS, Bascom EMS and the Seneca County Chaplain Corps also were at the scene. Staib said firefighters were at the scene until about 6 p.m.
