Tiffin City Board of Education approved the bidding phase for the stadium and field maintenance project at Frost Kalnow Stadium and Athletic Complex Monday.
The architect firm of MKC Associates Inc. also was authorized to proceed with the contract administration phase for the project.
MKC Associates Inc. was approved as the architect and engineer at the January board meeting. MKC was hired by the board to prepare all specifications and drawings for the project.
There will be separate contracts for stadium maintenance, seating and track maintenance.
The contracts for stadium maintenance and seating were awarded to Trisco Systems Inc. with a combination bid totalling $285,886.
Trisco was the contractor for repairs done in 1999 when the track and football field were redone and the concrete structure was repaired.
Stadium maintenance would include patching the concrete structure, widening steps to accommodate handrails and recoating the structure with a protective membrane, which is an elastomeric sealant that will help the stadium withstand any type of weather.
The board tabled the motion to award the track maintenance contract to All American Tracks Corp. due to lack of information. Action on the motion will take place at the board's next regular meeting, which is 7 p.m. April 23 in the Tiffin Middle School cafetorium.
