Dale Thornton, president of Mercy Tiffin Hospital, is retiring June 1.
Thornton has been an integral part of the Mercy team for more than 15 years, all spent in senior leadership roles at Mercy's Tiffin and Willard hospitals. He also served as chief executive officer in Mercy's rural division.
Among Thornton's many accomplishments are the visioning and completion of new hospital facilities in Tiffin and Willard, creation of the rural division and its shared management structure, growth in the employed physician network, creation of a cardiac catheterization lab in Tiffin and a number of joint ventures with physicians such as the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Tiffin.
Under his leadership, the rural division provided a high level of community benefit.
Thornton was committed to working with the community in such partnerships as the new Mercy Community Nature Preserve on the hospital campus. He serves on the Ohio Hospital Association Board.
Dale and his wife, Frazene, plan to continue to reside in Tiffin.
