James E. "Jay" "Jim" Moore, 78, of Sandusky, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, after an illness.
He was born May 26, 1934, to Eugene and Edna (Foos) Moore. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic.
He married Johanna (Gallam) Moore Sept. 17, 1955, at Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Mike Moore of Lakeworth, Fla., and Dr. Jeffrey (Deborah) Moore of Dublin; a daughter, Colleen (Al) Barton of Hemet, Calif.; three grandsons; two brothers-in-law, John (Claire) Gallam and Jack McCormick; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Moore; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Neil Moore; and a sister, Nancy McCormick.
There will be no visitation per his request and private services will be at a later date. His body will go to Ohio State University for teaching, as he wished, and later is to be cremated. Foos and Foos Funeral Service, Bellevue, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, Merry-Go-Round Museum, Firelands Symphony or Sandusky State Theatre.
