CAREY - All of the runs came in the fourth, but Nikkayla Garverick added 10 strikeouts for Colonel Crawford as the Eagles edged Carey 3-2.
The Eagles snapped a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the third.
Garverick doubled, and scattered four walks and three hits from the circle.
Hannah Draper, Sydney Wentling and losing pitcher Ali Rymer each singled for the Blue Devils.
Bauman, Tigers settle in quickly vs. Buckettes
ATTICA - Rachel Bauman struck out nine and scored twice Monday as Seneca East rolled past Buckeye Central, 11-1.
The Buckettes (2-1) scored their lone run in the top of the first, but Bauman and the Tigers took control from there.
Seneca East (1-0) led 3-1 by the end of the inning and Bauman scattered five hits and two walks in the five-inning affair.
Holly Bordner scored twice and singled twice, Marisa Twigg added two runs and a single, Karrigan Wertz doubled and scored and Bauman singled.
Kendra Schultz doubled and singled for Buckeye Central. Maddie Fagan singled twice and scored. Morgan Wurm (1-1) took the loss.
Sauber, Affholder ignite Chieftains
BASCOM - Shelbi Sauber legged out an inside-the-park grand slam in a 13-run inning and Aubrey Affholder tossed a no-hitter Monday as Hopewell-Loudon hammered Norwalk St. Paul, 15-0.
The Chieftains took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but didn't really take control until the fourth.
Sauber lashed pitch to right-center and just beat the throw home for an 8-0 lead as the Chieftains (1-0) broke the game open.
Meanwhile, Affholder (1-0) struck out 12 and allowed just five walks.
Makayla Wilson tripled, Racquel Hossler scored twice, doubled and singled, C.J. Hohman doubled, Affholder scored twice and doubled, and Abby Park singled twice.
Panthers turn away Calvert
SANDUSKY - Sandusky St. Mary led 8-2 by the end of the second inning and added six runs in the sixth Monday in a 15-8 win over Calvert.
The Senecas rallied to trail 9-7 with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth before the Panthers pulled away for good.
Margaret Bowers and Kaleigh Hendrix each drove in two runs and singled for Calvert. Losing pitcher Gabby Bennett scored twice and singled, Kate Brickner added two runs and Taylor Ritzler and Megan Funkhouser both singled twice.
Van Buren stomps Redmen
FOSTORIA - Fostoria took an early lead but couldn't hold on to a late charging Van Buren, who came out on top, 8-3.
Jada Hampton lined a triple and single while Erica Moore had two singles.
Christina Cleveland also hit two singles while Moore took the loss (0-1) for Fostoria (0-1), despite nine strikeouts.
Raiders strong in season opener
KANSAS - Two players hammered solo home runs for Lakota while another player notched a triple in a 12-1 victory over Cory Rawson.
Morgan Gangwer and Destiny Long-Myer each pounded homers while Nikkia Cooper smacked a triple.
Lakota opened with two runs in the first before closing the next four innings with 10 more runs.
Gangwer (1-2) picked up the win for Lakota (1-0).
Warriors win opener
MARION - Mohawk prevented Marion Elgin from scoring a single run and managed four of it's own in a 4-0 victory on the road.
Julie Adelsperger struck out nine in the victory (1-0).
Allison Price had the only extra base hit for the Warriors, registering a double.
Kenton edges out Rams
UPPER SANDUSKY - Two Upper Sandusky players combined for 14 strikeouts, but it wasn't enough to hold off Kenton in a 7-5 loss.
Kelsi Knapp and Kyla Cusac each threw seven strikeouts a piece with Knapp taking the loss (0-1).
Seven players each contributed one hit apiece for the Rams (0-2).
