Vincent Edward Grine, 81, of Fostoria, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Plymouth, to Alvin W. Grine Sr. and Esther Emma (Fox) Grine. He married Berneda "Bernie" (Brandt) June 30, 1956, in Frenchtown, and she survives him in Fostoria.
Also surviving are nine sons, Ronald, Donald, David and Charles (Kris), all of Fostoria, Robert (Pamela) of Arcadia, Joseph of Defiance, John (Kimberly) of Tiffin, Kevin of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Louis (Edith) of Findlay; three daughters, Sandra (Fred) DeMars of Fostoria, Patricia (William) Snyder of Findlay, and Lois (Keith) Risner of Tiffin; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Vernon and Paul (Marsha), both of Fostoria, and Harold of Leighton, Pa.; sister, Ellen Greek of Tiffin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Barbara; two sons, Lawrence and Kenneth; three brothers, Alvin, Richard and James Grine; and five sisters, Margaret Grine, Helen Kauffman, Inez Miller, Hilda Krupp and Rita Calvert.
He was a United States Army veteran serving from May 18, 1954-May 17, 1956. He served with the military police in the Third Armored Division in 1954, as Private 1st Class Paratrooper with the Airborne 11th Division and 503rd Infantry Regiment in 1955.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 1:30 p.m.
His Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery, Fostoria, where the United Veterans of Fostoria will provide military honors.
