Lucille C. Myers, 96, formerly of Carey, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Oct. 2, 1916, in rural Carey, daughter of the late George and Mary (Wenzinger) Lortz. Lucille married Urban Myers June 7, 1938, at St. Joseph Church, Salem Township. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1991.
She is survived by two sons, Clifford E. (Anna) Myers and Dwight D. (Helen) Myers, both of Carey; nine grandchildren, Barbara Moore, Pam Myers, Teresa Frey, Donald Myers, Sherrie Perry, Dean Myers, David Myers, Kevin Myers and Jon Myers; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph E. (Doris) Lortz of Carey; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Tiell of Tiffin.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Mollie Lortz; a brother, Henry Lortz; and an infant brother.
Lucille was a 1935 graduate of Salem Township School. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the family farm. She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church, Carey. Lucille enjoyed traveling, playing cards, doing word puzzles, watching and feeding the birds, gardening, growing flowers and exhibiting things at the county fair.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. A scripture service will be at 7:30 p.m.
Her Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at The Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, with the Rev. John Stowe OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Carey.
