Ten of the top seniors of Columbian High School were honored as well as individuals who impacted them throughout their high school career Thursday evening at the Excellence in Education dinner.
Dawn Iannantuono, school board member, congratulated students and contributors and spoke on the importance of giving back.
"As board members, we give back by serving. Education is a labor of love, with unexpected blessings," Iannantuono said. "Volunteer for the right reasons and you will never regret it."

Senior Michaela Theis honored Columbian Band Director Mike Meadows. His leadership over the past 6 years has made her a confident musician, Theis said.
Senior Sarah Semer also chose to honor Meadows.
"Mr. Meadows has no doubt made an impact on my life. I don't know where I'd be without him," she said.
Columbian biology teacher Chris Monsour was honored by seniors Allison Perry and Roland Scaife. The students spoke about Monsour's motivational speeches.
"Mr. Monsour told us that if you don't work, then don't expect to get an A," Scaife said. "He shows passion in his work and puts in countless hours instilling education in others."
Senior Alexandra Elchert honored Susan Marion, wife of Tiffin University President Paul Marion. Susan taught Elchert piano lessons from the time she was young.
"Susan has been a huge impact on my life," Elchert said. "She gave me the knowledge to try towards my goals and I believe that I can reach that goal."
Girls tennis coach, Chip Weingart was honored by senior Alexandra Kramer. Kramer told the story of the first time she met Weingart.
"The tennis team is lucky to have someone like him. He taught me to take care of myself before getting on the court. He has made me better at tennis and a better person."
Senior Christopher Daniel honored Columbian history teacher Todd Edmond.
"Mr. Edmond became my favorite teacher," Daniel said. "He cares about his students and has been someone I can talk to."
Not all honorees were educators. Senior Sarah Hudacek honored the mother of her best friend, Ellen Lynch.
"I have been blessed with having two mothers," Hudacek said.
Senior Rachel Gates honored former baby sitter Diana Stacy, and senior Jami Newlove honored youth group leader Becky Miller.
"Not only do we have exceptional students we have exceptional contributors," Principal Mark Verroco said.
