The Columbian High School Quiz Bowl team lost to Findlay High School, 37-24 in round four Saturday at the OAC 2013 Northwest Regional Tournament at Calvert Catholic High School.
Sixteen teams from Northwest Ohio competed. Columbian went 2-2, after a loss to Bowling Green High School.
The team, made up of Scott Bryant, Chris Daniel, John Obringer, Dylan Knaplund, Hunder Stark, Nathaniel Gilmore, Nate Ramdell, Katie Repp and coach Len Donaldson.
"I am proud of my guys and gal and their efforts," Donaldson said. "They represented Columbian well."
Senior Chris Daniel, captain of the team, said, "(We) are happy to have this opportunity. It was a great experience."
"We want to thank our coach, Mr. Donaldson. With being his first year we were unsure how it would go. With the 7 a.m. practices it was worth it," Daniel said.
Seneca East tops junior high competition
The North Central Ohio ESC Junior High Academic Challenge was April 12 at First Lutheran Church in Tiffin.
More than 100 7th and 8th graders from Tiffin Middle School, Bridges Community Academy, Calvert, Fremont Middle School, Hopewell-Loudon, Mohawk, New Riegel, Old Fort, St. Wendelin and Seneca East participated in the tournament.
Seneca East was first, followed by St. Wendelin at second and Tiffin was third.
Dublin Scioto High School took first place, follwed by Blowing Green with second and Findlay took third.
