James Louis Fredritz, 88, of Carey, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 16, 1924, in Seneca County, to John and Matilda (Reinhart) Fredritz. He married Olive M. Swerlein June 21, 1969, in Carey. She preceded him in death Jan. 15, 2000.
Surviving are three stepchildren, Sandra K. (Richard) Heydinger of Leawood, Kan., Beverly A. (Dennis) Mewhorter of Upper Sandusky and Steven E. Swerlein of Carey; three siblings, Herman (Gerry) Fredritz of Alvada and William Fredritz and Rita (Howard) Pahl, both of Carey; 12 stepgrandchildren; 16 stepgreat- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Carolyn Baker; and three brothers; Henry, Paul and Howard Fredritz.
Friends were Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation with the Rev. Florian Tiell, OFM Conv, officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Carey.
