Seneca County Agricultural Society members learned Tuesday night that 94 Ohio fairs are to share $1,001,800 from the Ohio Harness Horsemen's Association in conjunction with the Ohio State Racing Commission.
Each of the 65 fairs that conduct harness racing are to receive a distribution of $11,600 to be divided among the eight Ohio Fair Funds races, which, when coupled with the $1,354 per race distributed in February by the Ohio Department of Agriculture, will increase the base purse per race to $2,804.
The fairs conducting harness racing are to receive $3,500 for operations and related expenses while the 29 fairs not conducting races are to receive $700.
The Bob Evans fundraiser is to be Wednesday.
The Seneca County Horse Council received the board's permission to conduct a horse show June 29-30 for $275 for electrical and building use, plus concession stand rental costs.
The board approved a request by Lonnie Fitch for rental of the grandstand or livestock pavilion for a mixed martial arts display June 22. The program is sanctioned by the Ohio Athletic Commission. The fee was $750 plus hourly charge for bleacher set-up.
The board agreed to replace its 47-year-old John Deere with a 2013 John Deere with a one-year warranty for $17,976 with a customer discount plus the cost of a canopy. Rental of another vehicle until it arrives was discussed.
Board members approved the fee schedule and a fair confidential information policy as recommended by the state auditor.
The 2013 fair baskets have arrived. They have a larger bowl with a moss green and brown band. The cost is $49 per basket and includes a protector.
The meeting went into executive session for discussion of personnel.

Approved the financial report that revealed $48,121.78 in all accounts.
Heard several trees need to be removed.
Heard the fair book goes to print May 29.
