ATTICA - Seneca East scored on a bobbled fielder's choice in the bottom of the seventh Monday to clip Hopewell-Loudon 8-7 in Midland Athletic League play.
The Tigers (16-7, 7-4 MAL) scored five runs in the fourth to go up 7-4, but H-L knotted the game in the next frame.
It stayed that way until the seventh.
Marissa Twigg drew a one-out walk and Kayleen England and Jess Enders both reached on errors to bring up Lauren Sprenger. Sprenger slapped a grounder to the left and the shortstop couldn't make a clean throw, with Twigg scoring the game-winner.
Caitlin Sauers doubled and singled for Seneca East and Sprenger had two runs and two RBIs off two singles. Cameil Ruffing scored twice.
Paige Reichert (3-2) got the win.
Aubrey Affholder chased in two runs with a double and single for the Chieftains and Lauren Trumpler had a run, RBI, double and single.
Shelbi Sauber tripled, scored and knocked in a run, and Makayla Wilson had a double, single and RBI.
Generals shut out Blue Jackets
WHITEHOUSE - Anthony Wayne and New Riegel both had hits and walks, but the host Generals strung theirs together better.
Kaitlyn Ray struck out eight over five innings and the Generals snuffed out all of New Riegel's offense Monday in a 2-0 win.
The victory snapped a seven-game win streak by the Blue Jackets (19-7).
The Generals (16-10), who play Ashland in Wednesday's Division I district semifinal at Tiffin University, scored single runs in the third and fourth innings.
Cassie Kaptur had a double and RBI, Alexis Reihing doubled, Haley Olvera singled and scored and Emma Huffman walked and scored.
Taylor Kirian (17-7) took the loss, allowing six hits and two walks while hitting two batters. Just one of the two runs charged to her was earned.
She also went 2 for 2 with a double and two walks.
Sandra Acree singled twice for the Blue Jackets (19-7), and Morgan Noftz and Leah Bouillon both singled.
