CLYDE - Clyde-Green Springs interim superintendent Laura Kagy said the district is assessing its technology in preparation for Common Core testing online.
She also spoke of an Informational Instruction System through ThinkGate for the Race To The Top program.
In her report, Treasurer Joyce Dupont said there was an excess of funds in the state workers' compensation program and the district was being refunded $39,480. The district benefited by $48,000 this year from casino funding. She said expenditures exceeded revenues by $76,000 ending fiscal year 2013. The district also is paying out more than $300,000 annually to community schools.
High School Principal Joe Webb reported Clyde's high school band received a superior rating at state competition.
Principal Jon Detwiler said McPherson Middle School would be graduating eighth-graders May 30.
About 140 kindergarteners have been screened for next school year.
A Woody Hayes impersonator is to perform at the high school auditorium Sept. 14.
Athletic Board of Control liaison Matt Jenne said the district still is seeking candidates for head football coach. No contact week has been set for June 30-July 7.
The meeting moved into executive session for discussion of personnel compensation.
In other matters, the board:
Approved a $491,803.75 fund transfer for debt service.
Approved an annual transfer of $115,182 from the General Fund to the Classroom Facilities Fund for maintenance needs.
Approved the five-year forecast revision.
Approved appropriation modifications to the ONet Connectivity and blended learning funds.
Approved a contract with Healthcare Process Consulting Inc. for fiscal year 2014 at a cost of $12,000 to manage the district's Ohio Medicaid School Program
Approved reimbursement to Dupont for two graduate classes.
Accepted five resignations.
Approved staff personnel action.
Employed non-certified persons for extra duty jobs for 2013-14.
Employed classified substitutes for 2013-14 on one-year limited contracts.
Employed substitute teachers on a one-year limited contract for 2013-14 school year.
Approved 196 students for graduation June 2.
Approved high school summer classes.
Approved a summer school program for preschool through eighth grade.
Approved summer sports camps.
Approved Jefferson County Educational Service Center contract for virtual learning academy services
Approved a contract with The Baker Agency Inc. for student/athletic insurance coverage
Approved a 2013-14 multi-agreement contract with North Point Educational Service Center for special education services
Approved policy and policy regulation changes regarding third-grade reading and history testing.
Approved an agreement with Fremont Memorial Hospital for providing physical therapy care of athletes
Approved a one-year negotiated agreement with Clyde-Green Springs Education Association. Contract was ratified by members May 13.
Accepted gifts and donations to the schools.
The board meets next at 6 p.m. June 24.
