Margery Doris Clingo, 91, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Forum at Knightsbridge, Columbus, where she had resided the past two years.
She was born July 5, 1921, in Wyandot County, to Fred Gier and Modest (Shireman) Gier and grew up on the family farm near McCutchenville. She graduated from McCutchenville High School in 1939. Margery received a bachelor's degree from Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Ohio, and a master of education degree from Ohio University. She married Robert Clingo in 1945, before working as a high school teacher of home economics and physical education in the Mount Gilead School system and later in the Columbus School system at Walnut Ridge High School. Margery was a longtime member of Mount Gilead Presbyterian Church and later Parkview Presbyterian Church, Reynoldsburg. Following retirement, she was active at Reynoldsburg Cancer Thrift Shop and Touching Little Lives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ernest Clingo, who passed away in 1984.
She is survived by her sister, Helen Everhart of McCutchenville; three children, Patricia Snider of Keller, Texas, Marcia Clingo of Reynoldsburg and R. Jeffrey (Brenda) Clingo of Columbus; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Her funeral will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave, Columbus, OH 43232. Family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville.
