Geraldene "Jo" de Jonge, 71, of Republic, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, in her home.
She was born Nov. 28, 1941, in McCreary County, Ky., to Walter and Dora Brown. On Aug. 24, 1963, she married Fred de Jonge, the love of her life. He died Aug. 25, 2008.
Jo is survived by three daughters, Robin Lather, Jill Carroll of Republic and Cassandra (Jim Frey) de Jonge of Keuka Lake, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, Karly and Cathy Lather, TJ (Sammy Jo) Carroll, Joseph Carroll, Ashley de Jonge, Kyla Harmon, Brock Klohe, Heather Wilken, Elizabeth (Jeff Turner) Wilken, Krystina (Ben Larrison) Wilken and Peter Wilken; five great-grandchildren, Oliver de Jonge, Credence and Nevaeh Carroll, Carsen Larrison and Eli Turner; her brothers and sisters, Shirley (Benny) Runion, Wilma (Jim) Wertz, Dave (Betty) Brown, Jan (Mike) LaCourse and Marcia (Bob) Collier; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Fredric Charles (Chuck) de Jonge; great-grandson, Gavin Paul Larrison; and her parents.
Jo was an avid cook and homemaker; worked several waitressing positions in Tiffin and Fremont; and like Fred she loved her instant lottery tickets. She loved to read, had a great passion for art and history, and collected dolls for years. She also enjoyed watching football and NASCAR with her family.
A memorial service will be 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Lindsey Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville.
Immediately following the service, a celebration of her life dinner, planned by her family, will be at the Wade Benfer American Legion Hall in Republic.
