Roger E. Dunlap, 69, passed away at 5:02 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, after several months of battling cancer.
Roger was born June 7, 1943, in Tiffin, to Dennis and Nellie (Perry) Dunlap. He was a retiree and lifelong signal operator for the Penn Central Railroad and its successors.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Ben) Compston of Findlay; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his dog, Bailey; his cat, Chub; stepson, Eddie Webb; and brother-in-law, Tommy Alley.
Roger served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard in the 60's. He loved Supercars, especially GTOs, of which he had two; NASCAR and country music. One is his great hoys was playing bass in the country band, "The Cellar Dwellers," who plan to play at his memorial service.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Denny and Gene; sister-in-law, Nell Dunlap; his first wife, Elaine (Campbell) Dunlap; longtime friend, Mary Willoughby; and beloved stepdaughter, Sandy Jacobs.
A memorial service for Roger will take place at 11 a.m. June 5, 2013, at Fort Seneca Community United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Becky Jones officiating. A lunch will be served in the church annex following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made, in Roger's name, to Findlay Hospice Care, the Humane Society of Seneca County and/or Fort Seneca Community United Church of Christ.
