UPPER SANDUSKY - The Star Players are to present the Star Kids 2013 theater workshop showcase at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The showcase is to feature songs, dance routines and two shorts plays. The entire showcase should last about 90 minutes.
Twenty-eight area children, ages 6-12, participated in this year's workshop.
Eighteen children in grades 1-3 are to perform "Dragon Trouble." Everyone in the kingdom is happy until a little fairy named Susie get bored and starts causing trouble. Soon, the princesses and dragons are fighting and the knights and magicians try to save the day.
Ten children in grades 4-6 tackle "Murder at Haynes Manor." This funny take on a murder mystery has many twists and turns and even a crafty ghost who makes sure the bad guy doesn't get away.
This year's director is Lori Lavery. She previously directed the Star Kids program as well as productions at the Star Theatre and Upper Sandusky High School. She has also performed in numerous productions, including appearing in a Columbus Children's Theatre professional production.
