Tiffin farmers' market returns
Tiffin Farmers' Market is to begin Saturday. Hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Courthouse Square in downtown Tiffin.
The markets are to continue the second Saturday of the month through Oct. 13.
Fostoria band to play at park
The Fostoria Community Band is to provide music 7:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hedges-Boyer Park Pavilion. Those attending may bring their own seating.
Admission is free.
Cast revealed for 'Spelling Bee'
The Ritz Players have chosen a cast for "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." The musical is to be presented at 7:30 p.m. July 12, 13 and 20 and at 2 p.m. July 21 on the main stage at The Ritz Theatre.
Tiffinites in the cast are Brandon Allomong, Alycia Harrison, Hannah Mathias and Joshua Harris; from Bellevue is Brad Rowe; from Fremont is Sara Engeman; from Wooster is Chip Johnson; and from Sandusky are Valerie Thames and Sam Waugaman.
Dianne Pytel is directing, with Jeanette Painter as music director.

Music series resumes
FOSTORIA - Fostoria Community Arts Council and Fostoria Parks and Recreation Department have scheduled the first of this summer's Lunch on the Lawn series for noon-1 p.m. Wednesday on the Fostoria Municipal Building lawn.
Admission is free, and Danny Opperman is to perform. A bag lunch is to be available for $5. The rain location is across the street at the FCAC office at 125 S. Main St.
Verandah concerts to begin
FREMONT - Fostoria Community Band is to open the 2013 Verandah Concerts at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont. These outdoor hour-long events offer free music and ice cream.
An old-fashioned ice cream social at 6:45 p.m. precedes each concert. Musical entertainment starts at 7 p.m. and lasts about an hour. The 80-foot long verandah (19th-century term for a porch) on the home of 19th U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes serves as the stage.
Attendees are asked bring their own chairs or blankets. If there are thunderstorms on concert night, the event will be canceled.
Church breaking out the berries
BLOOMVILLE - The Bloomville United Methodist Church is preparing its annual Strawberry Festival for June 15 at the church, 31 N. Marion St., Bloomville.
The 56th annual festival is to begin at 5 p.m., offering a children's carnival, homemade sandwiches, soup, salads and strawberry desserts. The gospel group One Voice is to perform throughout the evening.
Prior to the festival is the third annual 5K Berry Run/Walk and a newly added 10K run/walk. Registration opens at 3 p.m. and start time is 4 p.m. The entry fees are $15 for the 5K and $20 for the 10K.

Workshop looks at getting roles
The Ritz Theatre is to host a free workshop for students who will be entering high school in the fall. "Landing the Role" is to be offered at 4:30 p.m. June 19 in The National Theatre at The Ritz, 30 S. Washington St.
The workshop is to focus on the proper ways to prepare for an audition or a job interview. Leading the workshop are professional directors June Hundley and Faith Howes of the Missoula Children's Theatre.
