Mr. Corbin

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Fred was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a 1958 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. After graduation, he spent two years at Bowling Green State University and in 1961 was fortunate to get into an industrial engineering program at National Machinery Co., where he spent 10 years, seven of those as a plant engineer. Together, Fred and his wife formed Corbin Corp. Inc. in January 1973 as an industrial supply company located in Tiffin, Maumee and Kingsport, Tenn. In 1998, they were approached by MSC and closed the deal Feb. 22, 1999. He then retired one year later in February 2000.

Fred was as passionate about flying as he was with his business and, in 1968, he received his pilot's license from Tiffin Aire and enjoyed flying his Cheyenne II propjet for business and personal trips. He loved spending time at Lake Erie and the surrounding areas and boating on his 55-foot Sea Ray. Fred was a member of Mohawk Country Club and the Catawba Island Club for many years and treasurer for their Catawba Island Association. He was a founding member, trustee and an officer for the Charles D. "Bud" Hering Jr. Foundation, which he supported and held closely their generosity to the community.

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424, with Pastor Hannah Tucker officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the funeral home.
