CAREY - Our Lady of Consolation is to stage its annual summer festival this weekend on the school grounds, 401 Clay St., Carey.
The festivities begin at 8 p.m. Saturday. Those 21 and older can enjoy music by the classic rock band, MARS, until midnight with a $5 cover charge. Snacks, brats, burgers, beer and coolers are to be for sale.
Sunday, the Rosary Altar Society dinner is to be served 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Shrine cafeteria. Choose baked chicken or cube steak with homemade noodles.
The main festival goes 2-10 p.m. at the school. Live entertainment is to be offered throughout the day and a raffle winner is to be chosen hourly.
Sandwiches, fries, pizza, soft pretzels, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy, ice cream and soft drinks are to be served on the grounds. A dodgeball tournament is to take place in the gym. Outdoors, children can try the games and inflatables. The Knights
of Columbus are to call bingo 5-9 p.m.
Raffle tickets are for sale to win cash and other prizes. The grand prize is $1,500; second prize, $750; third prize, $500. Three $200 prizes also are to be awarded. The drawings are at 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
A new prize has been added this year, the Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre Raffle.
Four winners are to be drawn, and each winner may bring three guests. "Murder at the Masquerade" is to take place Oct. 5 at the home of Randy Neiderkohr. With food catered by Moreno's Casual Dining, the interactive production is similar to the game of "Clue." Tickets are $25, with the drawing set for 9 p.m. Sunday.
Proceeds from the drawings and festival are to benefit OLC School.
