Susan K. "Kindness" Miller, 47, of Columbus, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Mount Carmel East.
Susan was a graduate of Miami University. She was best described as a storybook Nanny because she dedicated her professional life to investing in the lives of children. Her compelling presence, obsession for kids' storybooks, passion for adventures in the park and ambition for character development in children mark the person she was.
She is survived by "her kids," Jack, Jenna, Audrey and their parents, John and Laura Ryan; faithful servant to her, her mother, Joyce Hessler Abele; and was preceded in death by her father, Glenn W. Miller.
She will be sorely missed by her sisters, Mary Miller and Shirley Baransi; and adopted sister, Cindy Six, all of Columbus; her brother, Bill (Shirley) of Sag Harbor, N.Y.; nieces and nephews, Ben, Laura and Sam Miller of New York, and Rachel Baransi of Columbus; Buddy, her beloved lap cat, and many families in the Columbus area. Susan, our beloved roadtrip driver, detail-rememberer, holiday baker, beloved daughter and sister, we miss you.
Family and friends, please join us for a Celebration of Life at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Franklin Park Conservatory Community Gardens, 1777 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43203.
In honor of Susan, donations may be made to cat welfare or reach out to a child or elderly person with kindness.
