Douglas A. Askam, 33, of Fostoria, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in the emergency room at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
Doug was born Feb. 28, 1980, in Tiffin, to Kenneth D. Askam of Galion and Roxane (Firestone) Askam of Tiffin.
Survivors include his fiance', Jamie L. Benner; two sons, Dylan Benner and Karsyn Askam; and stepdaughter, Destinee Benner, all of Fostoria; two brothers, Daniel Askam of Toledo and Matthew (Cassie) Askam of Fostoria; two sisters, Lesley (Kessler) Brose and Erin Askam, both of Tiffin; nine nieces and nephews; and paternal grandparents, Robert and Eva Powell of Florida.
Doug worked in construction and enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family and many friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gaylord Firestone and Velma Powers.
Visitation for family and friends will be noon-4 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory, Tiffin. Following the visitation, there will be a celebration of Doug's life at Pachlhofer's Pond, 257 N. TR 87, Fostoria, OH 44830.
