Marjorie R. Wertz

Marjorie R. Wertz, 94, formerly of Tiffin, who resided at Autumnwood Care Center, passed away Friday afternoon, July 5, 2013, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Bloomville, to Arthur L. and Zelfna (Cooley) Saul. On Oct. 20, 1940, in Newport, Ky., she married Harold V. Wertz and he preceded her in death Aug. 25, 1990.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley (Charlie) Marx of Tiffin; son, Tim (Bonnie) Wertz of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Wertz of Rossford, Amanda Wertz of Maumee, Natalie (Tony Consolo) Wertz of Tiffin and Eric (Tammy) Marx of Chandler, Ariz.; stepgranddaughter, Sue (Todd) Walters of Tiffin; stepgrandson, Rick McCarthy of New York, N.Y.; and six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Serenidy, Sienna and Kaveya Wertz and Brianna and Sean McCarthy; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brother, Kenneth Saul; and sister-in-law, Marge Saul.

Marjorie was a lifelong member of Honey Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She graduated in 1938 from Bloomville High School and from the Warner Beauty College of Toledo in 1940. After graduation, she worked at the former Margraf Beauty Shop and the Ritz dress and beauty bar, later starting her own shop, Margie's Beauty Shop on Miami Street. She was a member of the Women's Study Club, Allen Eiry Senior Center as a "Crafty Lady," Kiwanis Senior Group, golfed in a league at Seneca Hills and enjoyed bowling.

Her service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Bloomville, with Pastor Mark Pitney officiating.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care and Ritz Theatre.
