PLAY Day approaches
The Tiffin Park and Recreation Department and O.S.S. Solid Waste District are to host a Planned Leisure Activities for Youth Day 1-2 p.m. Thursday at Nature Trails Park on East Davis Street.
Children of all ages can take part in recycling activities and games, but parents must accompany children during the program.

Carnival to help area child
McCUTCHENVILLE - A carnival fundraiser for 7-year-old Julia Kingseed is planned for 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Buckingham Field in McCutchenville.
Diagnosed with a rare brain disorder, Julia recently went through a successful surgery in Columbus, but her family is struggling with emotional and financial stress.
Friends of the family are organizing games, a 5K run, a kick ball tournament and other activities. Children can try out the bounce house. Food is to be available.
Area businesses have donated items for a raffle. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. They can be purchased in advance at Seneca Cleaners, Bascom Carryout, P.J.'s Brickhouse, Clouse's Bar, First National Bank of New Riegel and the Scutch Drive-Thru. The winners need not be present at the benefit to claim their prizes.

Firefighters festival Saturday
BASCOM - Bascom Firefighters' Festival is to run 5-11 p.m. Saturday at Meadowbrook Park, 5430 Tiffin St., Bascom. Games and food are to be available.
Bascom Fire Foundation tickets can be purchased at the festival or at Bascom Carry-Out, Bascom Elevator, Bascom Telephone Co., I.C. Treats, Kuhn Sales & Service, Rock Run Bulk Foods and the office at Meadowbrook Park.
A cash drawing is to take place at 11 p.m.
Museum offers parade tribute
The Seneca County Museum, 28 Clay St., is to be open 1-4 p.m. Sunday with a special program beginning at 1:30 p.m.
"I Love a Parade" is to feature videos of more than 40 Tiffin parades, as well as films of other special events and activities in the community.
Admission is free, although donations are appreciated.
Free country show Sunday
FOSTORIA - Teenage country singer Connor Rose is to perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Wainwright Amphitheatre in Foundation/Meadowlark Park on South Union Street.
The free concert is part of the Fostoria Community Arts Council's Summer Concert Series. Rain location is Wesley United Methodist Church.
Fremont hosts German music
FREMONT - The Deutschmeister German Band is to be featured at the next Fremont Concert in the Park at 7 p.m. Sunday in Birchard Park.

'Plein air' event planned
Tiffin Art Guild is to host an outdoor, or "plein air," painting session 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday at a cottage in the woods. The event is open to area artists.
Participants are asked to bring their own portable art tools, paint, water bottles and other supplies. This is painting on-site, so an easel or folding table is needed. Bring a sack lunch. Bottled water is to be available.

NAMI to host meeting, awards
FREMONT - The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot counties is to host its 2013 Walk Awards and Annual Meeting Monday in the large shelter house at Conner Park, Fremont.
Bring a covered dish and a drink for the 6 p.m. potluck, followed by the meeting and awards at 7 p.m.

Annual airshow to take flight

Model aircraft of all sizes and types will be in the air at the club's on flying site on East CR 38, just east of North SR 101.
Starting at 9:30 a.m. both days, the show is to feature models ranging in size from gasoline engine powered large scale to ultra-micro electric powered aircraft. Spectators can expect to see World War II scale combat aircraft, jets powered by miniature turbine engines, and aerobatic aircraft capable of 3-D flight.
The action is to continue into the evening, with the largest variety of aircraft participating on Saturday.
Spectator admission and parking are free. Food and refreshments are to be available.

Antique, classic vehicles
to be paraded around Fostoria
FOSTORIA - The Fostoria Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking entries for its 11th annual Antique & Classic Chamber Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show, in conjunction with the Fostoria Glass Festival.
The show hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. July 20 on North Main Street in downtown Fostoria.
Show participants can register 7-8:30 a.m. at the old Honeywell Parking Lot, 1600 N. Union St. The cars will cruise down Countyline to North Street and Park on North Main for the Show.
There will be 27 trophies awarded this year, 50/50 drawings and two door prize drawings.
