Josephine "Joey" Ann Brown of Findlay passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at her home, from complications due to Alzheimer's.
She was 85 years old, born Nov. 2, 1927, in Hancock County, to the late James "Arthur" and Ruth (Bowers) Shank.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Emerson Brown, 87; their three children, William Joe Brown, 59, of Huntsville, Ala., Susan Pond (Eric) Siess, 58, of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and Jeffrey Joe (Joy) Brown of Mason. Joe and Joey were married 62 years and have three grandchildren, Liliana Serena Pond, 17, Matthew Emerson Brown, 9, and Holly Lou Ann Brown, 6.
Joey was the youngest of three sisters, Betty Mersfelder and Dottie Van Gunten, who preceded her in death. She was a 1945 graduate of Findlay High School and Wittenberg College in 1949. She taught home economics at Liberty High School from 1950-1951. She was a member of Powell Memorial United Methodist Church, Findlay, had a passion for art and loved working out in the yard and nature.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Hugh Bowland officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Marion Township, Hancock County.
