Roger D. Dean, 66, of Carey, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
He was born Sept. 1, 1946, in Hancock County, son of the late Jack D. and Mary Ellen (Redick) Dean. Roger married Joyce A. Wise June 15, 1968, in Carey, and she survives in Carey.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael D. Dean of Carey and Brian L. (fiance Christine Stella) Dean of Island Park, N.Y.; and one granddaughter, Lauren N. Dean.
Roger was a 1964 graduate of Carey High School. He attended Stautzenberger College for three years in the engineering field. He worked for the village of Carey where he was the electrical superintendent for 20 years, retiring in 1997. He also was a circuit writer and consultant for AMP for several years.
In retirement, he was an instructor for the apprenticeship program at Vaughn Industries, Carey, and an instructor for AMP. Roger also was on the board of directors for Northwest Ohio Linemen College. He had honorary membership to AMP of the highest order.
He was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion No. 344, Carey.
Roger enjoyed fishing. He had a love of knowledge and a great sense of humor, even up to his last days.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, July 12, 2013, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Allen Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey.
