John S. Tong, 70, formerly of Carey, died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky.
He was born July 3, 1943, in Bucyrus, son of the late Elmer and Helen (Brewer) Tong.
Surviving are his sister, Sharon Stroub of Forest; niece, Lisa Wenner of Carey; nephew, Steven Stroub of Forest; great-nephew, Evan Wenner and great-niece, Lauren Wenner, both of Carey; and cousin, Diane (John) McCartney of Tallahassee, Fla.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a nephew, Mike Stroub; and a cousin, Greg Cronk.
He retired from Porcelain Products, formerly in Carey, after 32 years as a glaze maker. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Carey. He was also a member of Carey Conservation Club. He enjoyed watching TV, sitting on the front porch and taking long drives in his car. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and loved cats.
Friends will be received from 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.
His funeral will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Penny Magee officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Bloom Cemetery, near Vanlue.
