Myron E. "Butch" Walters, 83, of Fostoria, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Riverside Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Wood County to the late John and Emma (Siebenaller) Walters. He married Blanche L. Watson May 12, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are three children, Pam (friend Mike Droll) Yonker, Jim (Paula) Walters, and Joy (friend Bob Podach) Walters, all of Fostoria; four grandchildren, Jake (Sarah) Walters, Tristan Thibodeau, Zeb and Gabe Walters; and two brothers, Robert C. Walters and Eugene Walters both of Fostoria.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Greg Yonker; two sisters, Esther Belle Walters and Emma Beeson; and five brothers, Paul, Harold, John, Donald and Richard.
Butch retired in 1984 as a captain of the Fostoria Fire Department after 30 years of service. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, where he received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1197, where he enjoyed golfing, bowling, softball and supporting the club, and American Legion Post No. 73, all of Fostoria.
Butch will be fondly remembered for the love shown to his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed and supported the grandchildren's events, and was known to offer wisdom and helpful advice.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Hoening Funeral Home 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Cemetery at a later date.
