Richard H. "Rick" Chadwick Jr., 64, of Berea and formerly Tiffin, passed away Monday morning, July 22, 2013, at the VA Hospital, Cleveland.
He was born July 17, 1949, in Tiffin, to Richard H. and Aleta Mae (Hunker) Chadwick Sr.
Rick is survived by his mother, Aleta of Berea; sister, Diane (Robert) Keller of Berea; two nephews, Richard and Andrew; niece, Ashley; three great-nephews, Jacob, Alex and Emmett; and a great- niece, Elise.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard in 2002.
Rick was a 1967 graduate of Tiffin Calvert and attended BGSU before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1969. He served in Vietnam as a sergeant where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with a
V Device for heroic action May 27, 1970, and the Army Commendation Medal for his achievements during his campaign. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He was an artist who excelled in drawing, enjoyed karate and was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. Rick was a former member of the D.A.V., V.F.W. Post No. 2858 and American Legion Post No.169, Tiffin.
His Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin, with the United Veterans' Council conducting military honors. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
