Lego Saturday next week

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to host the monthly "Lego Saturday" program 1-3 p.m. Saturday in the Frost Kalnow room.

The program is for all ages and the library is to provide Duplo Blocks for children ages 2 to 4.

The theme for the month of August is "Vacation."

T-SPL summer reading program concludes

The junior library at Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to conclude the junior summer reading program, "Dig Into Reading" 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday with the program "Sweet Treats $ Sweet Tunes."

The program is for all summer reading participants that completed at least five hours of reading or one month of the Rubber Ducky Club.

Music is to be provided by Chip Richter and ice cream or fruit for refreshments.

Library to feature "Bully"

The teen department at Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to continue its summer reading program 6 p.m. Monday.

The event is to feature the movie "Bully." The movie is rated PG-13 and runs 98 minutes.

The program is open to students entering sixth grade through adult. No registration is necessary.

Refreshments are to be provided and door prizes are available to win.

Teen summer reading finale party

The teen department at Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to end its summer reading program, "Beneath the Surface," 3:30-4:30 p.m. Friday with the "Teen Summer Reading Finale."

Teens entering sixth through 12th grade are invited for food, games and chanches to win door prizes.

Summer reading grand prize winners will be announced and the top five grand prize winners must be present to win.

No registration is necessary.

BELLEVUE - The Bellevue Public Library has programs scheduled for the first week of August.

Summer Reading Raffle, 2 p.m. Aug. 5 at the library.

Yarn Club 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the library. For beginning or experienced people interested in knitting, crocheting or sewing.

"We Dig Dinosaurs!" 2 p.m. Aug. 7 at the library. Program for kids ages 5-9 with dinosaur themed games, crafts, facts and snacks.

"Game On!" 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at the library. Event featuring Xbox and Wii for kids and teens.

New titles at library

SYCAMORE - The Mohawk Community Library is to add new titles to its shelves from non-fiction authors Robert W. Cohen, Sandra Lee, Joey Green, Better Homes & Garden and The College Board and fiction authors Iris Johansen, Alex Kava, Donna Andrews, Danielle Steel and Daniel Silva.

New Riegel Board to have special meeting

NEW RIEGEL - The New Riegel Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting 5 p.m. Wednesday in the office conference room to consider personnel.

Transportation Dept. taking registrations

The Tiffin City Schools Transportation Department transportation office is open daily and is to take registrations 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday.

Eligible students that need to register or change their information should do so by Friday to ensure being able to ride on the first day of school.

Fall adult education classes to begin

The Vanguard-Sentinel Adult Career and Technology Center Adult Basic and Literacy Education program is to have free classes beginning the week of Sept. 9.

The classes are to help adults improve their reading, math, writing or English skills, prepare for the GED test and get ready for college or an adult certificate training program.

Terra board approves faculty promotions

FREMONT - The Terra State Community College Board of Trustees approved a dozen faculty promotions during its July meeting.

Promoted from instructor to assistant professor are Haley Crabtree of Sandusky, Amy Drongowski of Saint Clair Shores, Mich., Nicholas Elchert of Port Clinton, Tammie Ferguson of Clyde, Brandon Koehler of Arcadia, James Perlberg of Woodhaven, Mich., Steven Stauffer of Walbridge and Bruce Wassung of Fremont.

Those promoted from assistant professor to associate professor are Stevne Bender of Port Clinton, Karen Frederick of Fremont, Peter Landino of Huron, and Michael Smithback of Bowling Green.

Senn receives award

Michele Senn, Attica, recently was presented a check by Janet Cole, scholarship chairman of the Seneca County OSU Extension Master Gardener program.

Senn was this year's winner of the scholarship, which is awarded by the Master Gardeners to a college junior or senior from Seneca County majoring in some form of horticulture.

Promedica and Great Scot to host classes

FOSTORIA - ProMedica, in partnership with Great Scot Supermarket, is to host a free Shopping Matters: Shop Smart class 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at Fostoria Great Scot Supermarket, 560 Plaza Drive.

Attendees are to learn how to shop with a plan and buy on a budget. They also are to gain tips on reading food labels and finding whole grains.
