ATTICA - The Seneca East Board of Education has completed their search for a new superintendent.
The current superintendent, Micheal Wank, has accepted the position of superintendent at Carey Exempted Village School District. Several candidates to replace Wank were interviewed Wednesday and Thursday last week. Two of the candidates were selected for a second interview, which took place earlier this week.
In a special board meeting held Monday night, Laura Kagy accepted the position of superintendent of Seneca East Schools. Initially, Kagy is to assume the role of assistant superintendent today and transition to superintendent Sept. 1.
"I am very happy to be going to Seneca East, it's like going home," Kagy said in a phone interview after the meeting. "I live near there and my children attend school there. It's an honor to be asked to be superintendent."
Kagy comes to Seneca East from Clyde-Green Springs Village School District, where she was the interim superintendent.
