Marjorie E. Thomas

Marjorie E. Thomas, 88, of Kansas, passed away at 11:56 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, in the comfort of her home.

She was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Seneca County, to John and Isabel (Christophory) Kinn. She married Robert O. Thomas Sept. 29, 1945, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bascom, and he died June 5, 1992.

Surviving are a son, Michael O. (Judy) Thomas of Fostoria; a daughter, Mary Lynn (Burton) Geissman of New Washington; five grandchildren, Mike Thomas II, Adam Thomas, Sarah Burns, Jennifer Joos and Thomas Geissman; 11 great-grandchildren, Aleah, Mike III, Oliver, Aubrey, Gage, Gyllian, Summer, Natalia, Isabella, Julia and Katey; a great-great-grandson, Cole; extended Italian children, Maria and Pompeo of Italy and Pasqualina of Argentina; a brother, John R. Kinn of Sandusky; and two sisters, Mary Schmeltz of Fostoria and Irma Souder of Columbus.

Marjorie retired in 1984 as branch manager of Ohio Savings & Loan and State Home Savings & Loan, Fostoria, after 23 years of service. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bascom, its Rosary Altar Society and the Red Hatters. She dearly loved her family, especially, her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her interest in helping the poor, her love of animals and her pet dogs, Tigger II and Damon. Her hobbies included reading three daily newspapers with great detail, magazines and playing cards.

Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 1:45 p.m.

Her Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bascom with Fr. Timothy Kummerer presiding. Family will gather at the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Bascom.

Memorials are suggested to Fostoria Sharing Kitchen or any local Humane Society.
