FOSTORIA - It's early as can be in the 2013 season, but Hopewell-Loudon's Bryce Gorrell already is in midseason form.
The Chieftains standout shot a 35 at Loudon Meadows on Tuesday, leading the Chieftains to a victory over St. Wendelin and St. Joe.
H-L finished with 177, 18 strokes better than the Mohawks. The Streaks finished with 198.
The Chieftains' Aric Creeger shot a 41, while Jarid Gelinas had a 42.
St. Wendelin was led by Dalton Murray, who had a 46, one stroke better than teammate Gabe Walters. St. Joe's Aaron Burns led his team with a 42.
SE places third in season opener
NORTH BALTIMORE - Four Liberty-Benton players scored 40 or less, and that was more than enough to knock off North Baltimore and Seneca East at Birch Run.
The Eagles were led by Jarid Neiling, who shot a 36, three strokes better than teammate Adam August. Nick Streacker shot a 40, and the team finished at 154.
North Baltimore (183) got 42s from Brock Boyer and Garrett Boyer.
Seneca East (222) was paced by Austin Holmer's 44.
It was the opening match of the season.
