Edsel Eugene Harrison

Edsel Eugene Harrison, 91, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

He was born May 24, 1922, in Bellevue, son of the late Frank Boyd and Iva Mae Rhoad Harrison.

Mr. Harrison began his working career as a machinist at National Machinery Co., Tiffin, and later became a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, from which he retired in 1985. During World War II, Edsel served in Italy with the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and helped charter the Jupiter, Fla., Chapter. He was a longtime member of The American Legion in both Ohio and Florida and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tiffin. Mr. Harrison also was an avid golfer.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Jim) Harrison Smith of Spartanburg, S.C., and Vicki (Robert) Harrison Fallon of Medford, N.J.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Nicholson of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Monica, Sondra, Leane, Jonathan, Adrian, Stephen, Daniel and Karen; 15 great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Melissa Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; two half-brothers, Jerry and Marlin Harrison, both of California; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Marjorie Beck Harrison; his second wife, Ruth Biller Miller Harrison; a son, Donald Harrison; a sister, Betty O'Harra; a brother, Paul Harrison; five half-brothers and sisters; and a great-grandchild, Nathan Smith.

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug 10, 2013, at Hoffman-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin, with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans' Council.

Friends may visit with the family an hour before the funeral at the funeral home.
