Eugene R. "Gene" Mizen, 85, of Tiffin, passed away Monday evening, Aug. 12, 2013, at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont.
He was born June 7, 1928, in Tiffin, to William and Viola (Bowers) Mizen. He married Mary Richey Dec. 13, 1947, and she passed away June 1, 2013.
Survivors include three sons, Eugene (Barbara) Mizen Jr., Richard (Connie) Mizen and Michael (Megan) Mizen, all of Tiffin; three daughters, Janice Eileen Agerter of Florida and Marsha K. Biller and Lynette Biller, both of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Albert, John and William Mizen; and a sister, Margaret Eisenhard.
Gene retired as a caster and kiln placer in 1984, after 41 years, from American Standard and was co-owner with his wife of Three Oaks Tavern from 1980-1995. He was a life member of Tiffin F.O.E. No. 402, Tiffin Masonic Lodge No. 77, Tiffin Shrine Club, Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, Toledo Shrine and Tiffin Hornet. Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed drawing, painting, pencil sketching, feeding squirrels and loved country music, especially George Jones.
Masonic services will be conducted at noon Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, followed by a funeral at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424, with the Rev. Rex King officiating. Burial will follow at Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of his funeral at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
