Seneca County youth to appear in 'Back to the '80s' in Bellevue
BELLEVUE - There was a time when Atari was the latest technology, "Star Wars" dominated the box office and disco music pulsed in the dance clubs. The Teen Theatre of Bellevue Society for the Arts is to return to that period as they present "Back To The '80s" at 7:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hirt Theatre, 205 Maple St. The musical concludes the BSA's 201213 theater season.
The story is a series of flashbacks by Corey Palmer, a young adult who recalls his antics from the 1980s at William Ocean High School. The cast includes Sierra Walker of Republic, Seth Martin of Attica and Shelby Chapman of Flat Rock, as well as teens from Bay View, Bellevue, Marblehead, Monroeville and Norwalk.
Jennifer Gilbert of Clyde is directing, with assistance from Leslie Childers and Jenea Ruttino of Bellevue. It is presented by special arrangement with Music Theatre International. "Back To The '80s" is written by Neil Gooding, with additional material by Stuart Smith. Revised orchestrations and arrangements are by Brett Foster, and the original musical adaptation is by Scott Copeman.

Three more performances of 'Les Miserables' this weekend
GALION - "Les Miserables" is to continue for three more shows at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Galion Theatre, 127 Harding Way West, Galion. Saturday poker run to help pets
The Humane Society of Seneca County is to host the Hawgs for Dogs poker run Saturday at the AMVETS Shelter, 1909 S. SR 100, Tiffin. Registration begins at 10 a.m. All bikes are to depart by 11:15 a.m. and return by 5:30 p.m. The top hand is to win $250 with second and third places receiving $150 and $100, respectively.
The stops on the run include: Blue Eagle Bar and Grill, Bettsville; The Cove Inn, Whites Landing; Margaritaville, Sandusky; Knuckleheads, Huron; and Havana Bar and Grill, Havana. The event is open to all vehicles. The registration fee is $20 per person. Smokin' Butts BBQ is to cater the meal. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society. No under-age drinking is to be tolerated. Spend 'Sunday at the Museum'
The Seneca County Museum Docents are to host the next monthly "Sundays at the Museum" program at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Fort Ball Room of the Seneca County Museum. The August program will feature old home movies from Tiffin Junior Home, and a Homekid, Joe Buckley, is to offer commentary during the movies. This is a chance to take a peek at what life was like growing up at the Junior Home. Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no charge. The museum is to be open from 1-4 p.m.
Ritz subscriptions available Monday for 2013-14 season
Comedy, magic, drama, dance, community theater, movies, family fare and music of many genres are included in The Ritz Theatre's 2013-14 season. Brochures have been mailed out and subscriptions go on sale Monday. The box office, 30 S. Washington St., also has copies of the brochures.
Storage space needed
The Ritz Players are looking for donated or inexpensive space in which to store sets and costumes. A site with limited access is acceptable. The Players would be able to issue a receipt at the end of the year for donated services. Check with a tax adviser regarding individual situations.
Verandah Concerts conclude
FREMONT - Wednesday, the North Coast Big Band is to close out the 2013 verandah concerts at the Hayes Presidential Center, Hayes and Buckland avenues, Fremont.
The outdoor concert begins at 6:45 p.m. with an ice cream social. Music starts at 7 p.m. and lasts about an hour. The concert is free and open to the public. Attendees should bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on the lawn. The event will be canceled if there are thunderstorms on concert night. Updates are to be available at (419) 332-2081.
Pizza Palooza to feature a
half-dozen local pizzerias
Tiffin Tomorrow is organizing another Pizza Palooza 4-7 p.m. Aug. 24 on Courthouse Square and South Washington Street. The participating vendors include AJ's Heavenly Pizza, Fort Ball Pizza Palace, Napoli, Reino's, Marcos and Padrone's.
The street is to be cordoned off and picnic tables are to be set up on the lawn. A pizza guessing challenge is planned, and possibly entertainment. In the event of rain, the tables can be moved to the sidewalk under the awning at the Laird Building.
