FREMONT - This season, Fremont Community Theatre presented a two-person drama, "Love Letters," by A.R. Gurney. FCT is to stage a one-night encore presentation of "Love Letters" at 8 p.m. Saturday.
The production received accolades at the Regional Ohio Community Theatre Association Festival this summer.
At that time, the cast and crew received five of OCTA's highest awards for acting, directing, ensemble, technical elements, and a special invitation to present an excerpt of the production at the 2013 OCTA State Conference in Dayton over the Labor Day weekend. FCT was one of only three theaters given this honor, out of 12 entries from other northwest Ohio community theaters.
Ben Archer of Clyde and Cyndi Hineline of Fremont portray Andy and Melissa, two upper-crust New Englanders who meet as children. Their relationship begins with Andy's acceptance to Melissa's birthday party invitation. Melissa replies with the requisite "Thank You" note, and the pair continues to correspond while attending separate boarding schools and colleges. As they travel the world separately, their lives are connected through their letters and occasional meetings.
Michael PJ Foos of Gibsonburg directs "Love Letters." This is the second time in three years he has directed an FCT production at the state OCTA level. Hineline and Archer have received OCTA acting awards previously, and set designers Mitchell Antesky and Hilary Frater also have received awards from OCTA in the past.
The evening begins with a catered hors d'oeurves reception at 7:30 p.m. followed by the performance at 8 p.m. Patrons can enjoy a dessert and a coffee bar during intermission. Reserved seating and tickets are $20.
Reservations should be made by phoning (419) 332-0695 or from the "Tickets" page at www.fremontcommunitytheatre.org.
