ELMORE - Mohawk rebounded from an opening-day loss over the weekend to pound Woodmore for its first win of the season. The Warriors (1-1) triumphed 25-10, 25-6, 25-10.
Julie Adelsperger paced the offense with eight kills, while also serving three aces. Mya Morris and Kasey Adelsperger added six kills. Clara Adelsperger dished out 25 assists.
MacKenzie Sowers added six aces, Aubrie Flood had five.
SE falls in four
GIBSONBURG - Seneca East won the first game, but Gibsonburg rebounded to win the next three and defeat the Tigers, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 27-25.
"Lots of close games, they played a good match tonight," Tiger coach Nicole Chaffee said. "It was intense."
The Tigers slipped to 1-2.
Kristen Bowerman smashed 18 kills to lead Seneca East, while Rachel Bauman added seven kills and 15 assists. Mykayla Ruffing dished out 19 assists and added four kills. Holly Bordner had 27 digs.
Calvert drops first match
MCCOMB - After two strong showings to open the season, Calvert dropped its first match when it traveled to face McComb, a regional finalist from a season ago. The Panthers scored a 25-19, 25-14, 25-13 win.
Calvert was led by Meridith Lucius with eight kills and 10 digs. Haley Felter added six kills and Lindsay Bickley five.
Redskins shut down Mohawks
ARCADIA - Arcadia dropped St. Wendelin Monday, 25-13, 25-15, 25-11. St. Wendelin was led by Allie Rutter with five kills. Chloe Reiter dished out six assists. Sophia Volpe led the defense with 11 digs. Rutter and Mikayla Gilliland each added eight.
