Outlook: Vasko likes the mix he has on his team of solid veterans and promising underclassmen. He brings backs three seniors to the varsity in Bogner, Wickham and Widman. Also back is Burkes who was an honorable mention NOL performer last year.

"We have a good core of returning players that have worked hard in the offseason," Vasko said. "We also have a group of talented freshman that can contribute on the varsity level. I expect us to be very competitive in every match we play."

Columbian resides in a tough Division I sectional that includes several of the top schools from the Toledo area. Still, Vasko says Burkes and Wickham have the potential to be district qualifiers.

"If Jack and T.J. play like I believe they can, they have a shot," he said.

Vasko also believes Bogner has a shot at qualifying for districts after narrowly missing out a year ago.

"Katie missed qualifying by four strokes last year in her first season on the team," he said. "She has a ton of potential and I expect her to have a great year."

Vasko listed Bellevue as the clear NOL frontrunners, but says after that, things are up in the air.

"Bellevue is by far the best team in the league as they return all of their second place team from last season," he said. "With hard work and dedication we can compete with anyone in our league."

He said they key to a successful year will be "developing consistency in our games and having great team chemistry. We have to eliminate big numbers and make sure we are all pulling for one another."
