OAK HARBOR - Calvert traveled to Oak Harbor Monday and brought its broom along for the ride. The Senecas swept the host Rockets 5-0.
Calvert (7-2) didn't lose a set during singles play. Madison Daniel topped Emily Goff 6-3, 6-1, Laura Haley beat Amanda Sosa 6-0, 6-3 and CeCi Burtis topped Rachel Chaffee 6-3, 6-1.
Regina Hoepf and Margaret Bowers went to a third-set tiebreaker but scored a victory at No. 1 doubles beating Emily Boss and Rachel Helle 6-3, 5-7, 10-8. In the other doubles match, Cassie Recker and Kerrigan Kwiat beat Michelle Boss and Kelsey Bodnar 6-1, 6-2.
Flying into regional semis
CLYDE - Clyde's tennis team kept its record perfect on the year with a 4-1 victory over Shelby in the third round of the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association state team tournament.
The Fliers advance to a Division II regional semifinal with the date and opponent still to be determined.
Clyde (11-0), swept the singles matches. Lexi Weber topped Katie Boor and Amanda Cahill beat Macie Dechert by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores. Andrea Nearhood closed out singles play with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Katie Bowman.
In doubles action, Clyde's No. 1 team of Brooke Smith and Clara Sewell beat Allison Naugle and Chloe Yetzer 6-3, 6-1. Shelby's lone win came at second doubles where Ashley Stahl and Elaina Myers beat Brianna Baughman and Emi Bowers 6-3, 6-3.
